Mid Summer Exhibition- Paintings and Photographs

ERIN KIM
Erin moved to Hong Kong in 2006. She is a fashion designer based in New York City and Hong Kong. Her work is influenced by the places she has lived in while growing up as a child of a diplomat. She has lived in Uganda, Kenya, Uruguay, Switzerland, Russia, and Korea. Her greatest source of inspiration comes from the unique colours, shapes, and textures she finds in nature.

GLADYS NG
Gladys is a novice in watercolour and pastel. She is Interested in painting using the comtempo approach.

JOMAY FAIRBAIRN
Jomay is a graduate in Economics and Business from the University of London. Jomay enjoys cooking, modern design and fashion. She has taken courses in Chinese paintings, calligraphy, the use of acrylics and watercolours. She is most fond of using watercolours because of their natural tones.

KIM MINICHIELLO
Kim’s career in art and design has spanned more than 20 years. After earning a bachelor’s degree in design, she spent many years as a designer on commercial design projects. As a designer for Walt Disney Imagineering, Kim’s talent and creativity were utilized on various projects around the world; at Disneyland Paris and Tokyo Disney Seas, as well as all the parks at the Walt Disney Resorts in Florida and California. At the same time, Kim established herself as an accomplished textile artist creating wearable art garments and one of a kind hand painted and printed home furnishings shown in various galleries in the U.S. She also created and produced her own line of wearable art children’s wear. Kim’s focus the past 6 years has been creating digital art that is licensed for a wide variety of products in various industries including, home furnishings and fashion accessories. After exploring digital media, Kim has returned to her interest and love of painting; working primarily in oils and watercolour.

MADELEINE NIELSEN
Madeleine was born in Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) and spent her school years there before leaving to study Biochemistry at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. She has lived in Hong Kong since 1994 and is married with two children. She has always had an interest in drawing, but has had no classical training and only recently started using pastels as a medium. She has always loved African wildlife and has been lucky enough to spend many a holiday on safari, watching these magnificent animals in their natural environment.

LESLEY SANGSTER
Lesley was born in Hong Kong but has lived in Scotland, England, California, France and New York. She has always been interested in drawing and calligraphy and started painting and discovering pastels in the last two years. Lesley particularly enjoys the texture and tactile qualities of this medium.

PATRICK FUNG
Patrick has been in the business of marketing art materials for more than a decade but has only recently started to use those materials himself. He has been learning how to sketch and paint in watercolours for the past 2 years and finds solace in it away from a nagging wife and screaming child..

NOAM KOREN
Noam defines himself as a curious, creative, autodidact, multicultural, and multifaceted person. Perfectionism, aesthetics and symmetry play a very important role in his life and he possesses a passion for cooking and photography. Though Noam took more than 10,000 photos over the past five years, he still defines himself as an amateur photographer. His favourite photographic style is “still life” and when he takes photos he usually tries to capture simple things however, he looks beyond the normal observation in order to articulate instances that are commonly unnoticeable. This will be Noam’s first exhibition and he is very proud of this collection that truly reflects his “pictorial philosophy”.

WONG LEONG JEAM
Wong Leong Jeam was a diplomat in Asean countries from 1990 to 2003. After he retired from the civil service, he became the Singapore Red Cross Society's liaison officer in tsunami-hit Meulaboh, West Aceh, from July 2005 to April 2006. Currently, he and his wife are involved with Tomorrow's Hope, an NGO which is building a new orphanage and school in Nias. Nias is an island off the west coast of Sumatra which was devastated by the tsunami on the 26th December 2004 and a major earthquake in March 2005. He is also a volunteer photographer for the Singapore Red Cross Society and Habitat for Humanity (Singapore).
